Sovah Health Welcomes New Cardiologist and Physician Assistant

Sovah Health announced today that A. Bahjat Shahbandar, MD, FACC and Christopher Rigney, PA have joined Sovah Physician Practices and are providing cardiovascular care for Sovah Heart & Vascular – Danville.

Dr. Shahbandar specializes in invasive and non-invasive cardiology, pacemaker and defibrillator implants, nuclear cardiac imaging and cardiac ultrasound, valvular heart disease and heart failure, peripheral venous and arterial diseases, cardia catheterization, coronary artery disease and hypertension, as well as atrial fibrillation and rhythm abnormalities.

He received his medical degree from Aleppo University (Aleppo, SYR), completed his residency at Boston University (Boston, MA) and his fellowship at Wayne State University (Detroit, MI).

Rigney provides cardiovascular care with a focus on cardiovascular disease, lipid management, chest pain, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, congestive heart failure, patient education and anticoagulation management.

He earned his doctoral and graduate degree from Lynchburg College (Lynchburg, VA). His undergraduate degree is from the University of Virginia College at Wise (Wise, VA).
